I like the change to male narrator because it seems we read mostly female POVs. Nice to see this worked out for you so well. Great review, Melissa! :)Rachelhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16682335183798720529noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-120760076447564855.post-24106518946030874522014-05-05T23:03:05.604-04:002014-05-05T23:03:05.604-04:00I don't remember this one, or the first novel....I don't remember this one, or the first novel. Not surprising with the number of novels out there, but still... It's interesting that the 2nd book deals with the aftermath. You are so right that most novels, sequels keep moving forward rather than stand around cleaning up. Glad you enjoyed it.BURIED IN BOOKShttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18205451716054533728noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-120760076447564855.post-16657379626596713012014-05-05T21:35:36.581-04:002014-05-05T21:35:36.581-04:00I received this for review but hasn't picked u...I received this for review but hasn't picked up the previous novels as of yet, but I'm definitely planning to start as you've enjoyed this series so much. It seems to be that rare dystopian that actually works, so that's definitely a relief. ;)Keertanahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01071392026876644282noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-120760076447564855.post-51301013934260859992014-05-05T15:03:37.081-04:002014-05-05T15:03:37.081-04:00I had not see this one around before, but it sound...I had not see this one around before, but it sounds goodBlodeueddhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03435479623560871881noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-120760076447564855.post-59047125532631820652014-05-05T13:16:30.266-04:002014-05-05T13:16:30.266-04:00Ooh, this sounds really good! Abdi sounds like an intriguing character and, like you, I really enjoy reading a book told by a strong male character.Mary @ BookSwarmhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04099395167194720599noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-120760076447564855.post-16682426248092040382014-05-05T10:28:41.479-04:002014-05-05T10:28:41.479-04:00"Rather than simply throwing us into the mele..."Rather than simply throwing us into the melee of a new problem or dilemma, this sequel explores much of the aftermath of the events of the former novel, as well as its significant impact on our characters today."<br /><br />LOVE that Melissa! Exploring the ramifications of the prior book's events is so rare in sequels it seems, like you said, normally something might be mentioned in passing and then a whole slew of new problems are added to the mix. Even though focusing on the aftermath may have slowed the story down a bit, it's obviously still a great read. Thanks for the recommendation my friend!Jennyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14199685365145765394noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-120760076447564855.post-89968861983900782382014-05-05T10:26:20.654-04:002014-05-05T10:26:20.654-04:00I haven't read the first book in this series y...I haven't read the first book in this series yet, but wow, your review definitely convinced me to give it a shot. I like the sound of the cross-over of the genres. It also seems like the male POV is well done. I'm just a little bit worried about how I would feel about the open ending though. I tend to dislike those.<br />Lovely review, Melissa!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
