Hi! My name is Melissa (or Missy, as my friends call me)...welcome to i swim for oceans!

i swim for oceans is a young adult book blog that stemmed from a love of swimming that I developed at a very young age. I grew up competing, and after 4 years of NCAA swimming at the University of Utah, I fell in love with open water swimming.

I am a cruise travel writer and editor my day, but my passion lies in literature - with the reading age of a perpetual teenager. I've been reading and reviewing books here for over four years now, and I love the blogging community, promoting the world of young adult lit and meeting fellow book lovers of the world.

I am a newlywed to my husband, Ryan, who is in the US Army and stationed in Arizona. I'm a traveler at heart, and my wanderlust only further feeds my addiction to books. 

The Facts:

I am the proud mama of a Bengal kitty, Stella, a black tuxedo kitty, Jasper and the cutest chow-chow you'll ever meet. 

In the past ten years, I've lived in New Jersey, Florida, Utah, New Hampshire and Arizona.

I escaped Alcatraz in 2008. No, I am not kidding.
