London. 1880. In the slums of Spitalfields apprentice blacksmith Luke is facing initiation into the Malleus Maleficorum, the fearsome brotherhood dedicated to hunting and killing witches.Luke’s final test is to pick a name at random from the Book of Witches, a name he must track down and kill within a month, or face death himself. Luke knows that tonight will change his life forever. But when he picks out sixteen-year-old Rosa Greenwood, Luke has no idea that his task will be harder than he could ever imagine.
It's been a while since I've read a good historical fiction novel. It's been even longer since a book about witches really captured my eye. In fact, I think it's been since before I started blogging 3+ years ago. Witch Finder sounds rich, layered, complex and just romantic enough to capture more than just the historical fiction crowd. Plus, when a novel like this ventures on the paranormal and gives a fabulous setting (and cover - holy crap!) to book, I'm obviously sold. What do you think, and what are you waiting on this week?
Definitely adding this to my TBR on GR, it sounds so good! I love finding a good witch story, and if it's set in London, I am SO in. Thanks for getting this book on my radar, Melissa!
ReplyDeleteYou're quite welcome! I love historical London settings, so if you throw in witches, better believe I'm sold! :)
DeleteI haven't heard about this one. It sounds great. Trying to think of another good witch book. Beautiful Creatures is the closest I can get.
ReplyDeleteI think the last great witch book I read was The Witch of Blackbird Pond...a loooooong time ago haha
DeleteI'm excited about this one too. I adore the cover of the book and love the idea of the MC being a witch hunter. This should be interesting.
ReplyDeleteGreat pick, Melissa! :)
Right? I love everything about this book so far, so here's hoping it actually lives up! :)
DeleteI don't read a lot of historical fictions, but I must admit this sounds good :)

My WW!
I think it's just paranormal enough that you might like it, Janina :)
DeleteShould I just give you a crown for always finding books that I have never seen before and love?!
ReplyDeleteGreat pick, Melissa! <33
A crown, you say?! Colour me excited now! I'll take that crown gladly ;)
DeleteI love historical fiction! And I hadn't heard of this one before, so thank you! Definitely going to read it.

As always, I've never heard of this one, Melissa, but I love the cover and historical fiction is one of my favorite genres, so I'm definitely getting my hands on this!(:
ReplyDeleteAwesome choice Melissa! It's been a while since I tackled either historical fiction novel or a book featuring witches, so I'm really looking forward to this one. Plus, it sounds like we might have the possibility of a romance in there, so major bonus for me!
ReplyDeleteAwesome pick. Thanks for sharing :)

You had me at London 1880. I am such a sucker for a good historical read and witches?? Yes, please! Great pick!
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorite time periods in history is the Salem Witch Trials, so this is right up my alley. Also, holy crap is right about that cover. It's gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteGreat pick, I can't wait to read this one but it's such a long time to wait!
ReplyDeleteMy WoW!
I don't think that I've come across a decent witch book either Melissa, but I'm really liking the sound of Witch Finder. I've also found myself getting into historical fiction books a lot now lately, so this book looks like a definite win! Brilliant pick! :)
ReplyDeleteCover is so pretty, and the synopsis sounds good!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great pick, it sounds so good. :)

You had me at "Witch!" lol
ReplyDeleteWow, that cover has me drooling! I love witches and put in a historical setting, sounds great to me!
ReplyDeleteI'm definitely excited for this one, too. I actually debated showcasing this today. It does just sound so awesome. I don't read a whole lot of historical fiction, but this premise really drew me in. And agreed on the cover. So charming. Great pick!

Oh this sounds really good! Thanks for stopping by :)
ReplyDeleteHaven't heard of this one but I'm definitely adding it to my list. Love the setting and time period and I'm intrigued by this society of witch hunters!
ReplyDeleteHuh, now that you mention it, it's been an incredibly long time since I've read a witch novel that I truly liked! They've all been duds for years. Dang, that's sad! Because I've liked wizards and witches for a very long while (obviously), but I haven't found a story to match my high standards. Now this sounds and looks great! And it's the first I've heard of it, so thanks for the heads up! Adding it now.
ReplyDeleteOhh, I like the sounds of this book. Historical typically isn't my thing, but I've found a few that I have loved recently. This goes on the list!

I love that this is set in 1880-I don't feel like I've read many books set during that time and the witch hunting twist is very unique. Excited to discover how Rosa will complicate Luke's life.
