Waiting on Wednesday 1/5

Wednesday, January 5, 2011

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Jill from Breaking the Spine, and specifically spotlights upcoming novels we can't wait to read. As always, there are some amazing upcoming books, but this week I'm particularly excited for...

Title: Forgotten
Author: Cat Patrick
Publisher: Little, Brown Books for Young Readers
Published: June 7, 2011
Pages: 304
Genre: YA, Mystery

Each night when 16 year-old London Lane goes to sleep, her whole world disappears. In the morning, all that's left is a note telling her about a day she can't remember. The whole scenario doesn't exactly make high school or dating that hot guy whose name she can't seem to recall any easier. But when London starts experiencing disturbing visions she can't make sense of, she realizes it's time to learn a little more about the past she keeps forgetting-before it destroys her future.

Part psychological drama, part romance, and part mystery, this thought-provoking novel will inspire readers to consider the what-if's in their own lives and recognize the power they have to control their destinies.

To be honest, I still don't entirely get what Forgotten is about, but the premise is still really intriguing and the cover is to die for. Seriously. I might die. The thought of waking up and not remembering a thing from the day before is endlessly enticing - though it would probably drive me nuts mad if it was actually happening to me. I'm trying to read more contemps this year, as well, so this sort of fits the bill - hey, it's not paranormal! Plus, I have a thing for mysteries. It will be interesting to see if this keeps me on the edge of my seat! What do you think, and what are you waiting on this week?

  29. HOLY GORGEOUS COVER! Seriously, it is so pretty. This book sort of reminds me of the movie 50 First Dates with Adam Sandler. Funny, but tragic at the same time.

  30. Great pick! That cover is super pretty, and the synopsis makes me want to read it just to see what’s up.

  31. This summary reminds me of 50 First Dates too, but with a more serious side I expect. I love this kind of quirky premise, so I'll look out for this one. Thanks for posting about it!

  32. I thought it sounded like a darker Fifty First Dates as well. The cover is so pretty. Is she asleep among poppies? Like Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz.
