Until an enemy makes an unfair accusation against the group and forces them to flee their world and hide in the neighboring realm of Faerie. But in Faerie, all is not flowers and rainbows. With bloodthirsty trolls, a hostile monarchy, and a dangerous code of magic, the fey world is far from the safe haven the Outlaws had hoped for....
Taken from Goodreads.
I'll be the first to say that I'm not the biggest fun of your cut and dried faerie tale with no twists or turns to speak of, but Blood & Flowers proposes just enough intrigue, danger, and faerie nastiness to keep me hooked! From the title, to the premise of theatre, fey and magic, to that oh-so-swoon-worthy cover (good Lord, that is gorgeous!), I want this book. Preferably stat. The characters sound fun, and I'm dying to know more. What do you think, and what are you waiting on this week?

At a time when most people have grown weary of the war between the states, two young children are desperate to find their way to the battlefields. Jeremy DeGroot wants nothing more than to join a troop as a drummer boy. For Dulcie, a runaway slave, freedom means she must head directly toward the fighting in the hopes that she'll become "contraband," that is, property of the Union troops. Both Jeremy and Dulcie find a place with the 107th New York Volunteer Regiment and even start to forge a friendship. But all that is threatened when they keep crossing paths with the mysterious Charlie, a young Confederate soldier, who may look like the enemy but feels more like a friend.
Well, it does sound like it has quite a few twists and turns, may be almost too much. Well see.
ReplyDeleteIt does sound fairy intriguing, although I'm not usually one to read books quite along those lines. But the first line of the synopsis is kind of what peaks my interest. Still, that cover, even I can admit is amazingly artistic.
