Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Jill from Breaking the Spine, and specifically spotlights upcoming novels we can't wait to read. As always, there are some amazing upcoming books, but this week I'm particularly excited for...
Title: The Power of Six
Author: Pittacus Lore
Publisher: HarperCollins
Published: August 23, 2011
Genre: YA, Sci-Fi
Pages: 352
Nine of us came here, but sometimes I wonder if time has changed us—if we all still believe in our mission. How can I know? There are six of us left. We're hiding, blending in, avoiding contact with one another . . . but our Legacies are developing, and soon we'll be equipped to fight. Is John Number Four, and is his appearance the sign I've been waiting for? And what about Number Five and Six? Could one of them be the raven-haired girl with the stormy eyes from my dreams? The girl with powers that are beyond anything I could ever imagine? The girl who may be strong enough to bring the six of us together?
They caught Number One in Malaysia. Number Two in England. And Number Three in Kenya. They tried to catch Number Four in Ohio — and failed.
I am Number Seven. One of six still alive. And I'm ready to fight.
Ok, here's the thing. Aliens are cool (in theory), but I've never really enjoyed stories with aliens in them. I find them too cliche and boring. Colour me nuts. Anyhoo, I picked up I Am Number Four on a whim, and I actually quite enjoyed it. Yes, there were parts that were a bit shaky, and there were characters that made me a bit addled after a while, but it was overall a fun and exciting read for me. So, despite the controversy surrounding James Frey and his ridiculous "Full Fathom Five," I am excited for The Power of Six...I choose to support the author behind the story (Jobie Hughes), rather than the crazy mess surrounding its creation. What do you think, and what are you waiting on this week?
yay! i am so excited for this book to come out. i also liked i am number four. i find it a refreshing read as we have tons of paranormal books now. i also saw the movie and it's great!
ReplyDeleteI still haven't read I am number Four. I wanted to but I was kind of put off by all the controversy.
ReplyDeleteOhh..This is exciting news. I have not read the first book but I love the storyline. And the blurb really interesting. But too bad number 1 died in Malaysia, since I haven't found him earlier here. LOL.
ReplyDeleteI have yet to read I Am Number Four, but I like what you said about supporting the author, and it made sense to do so.
ReplyDeleteI didn't read the first book but watched the movie. Anyway, I really want to see what happens next! Great choice!
ReplyDeleteI would have never guessed they were from the same series with that cover. Great pick though. I have heard awesome things about this series :)
ReplyDeleteI haven't read the first book - I read a lot of iffy reviews! Hope you enjoy this one! :)
ReplyDeleteI haven't read I Am Number Four yet, but I did see the film. It was pretty good.
ReplyDeleteOh yeah! I can't wait to read more on the others and see how they were doing. Great pick!
ReplyDeleteOhhh this looks good! I haven't read I am Number Four (but I did see the movie), so I need to go back and read that one before I get to this book:)
ReplyDeleteI so need to get with it on this series. I may be the only one that hasn't read I Am Number Four.
ReplyDeleteOMG! I cannot wait for this! I read I Am Number Four and loved it!
ReplyDeleteHere's mine. :)

I really enjoyed the movie :)
ReplyDeleteSo looking forward to continue following the story!
I should be like you and support the real author but Frey just gets on my nerve
ReplyDeleteI bought I Am Number Four back in August last year and I still haven't read it.... -.-
ReplyDeleteAwesome pick! I still need to snag a copy of the first book from my library :)
ReplyDeleteWHOA, a sequel?!?! I've yet to read I Am Number Four! Who knew I was so behind? Haha
ReplyDeleteI haven't read I Am Number Four yet. I'm totally falling behind with books! lol I like the cover on this one.
ReplyDeleteI never read the first, so I don't know much abt it. The only things I've read were about James Fray. That whole thing bothers me. Plus, I didn't want to support that empire in the slightest, but you do have a point in that Hughes still wrote it and so in theory I'd still ber supporting the author. I may pick I am Number Four up. Thanks, Melissa
ReplyDeleteJen
I am invested in this series now regardless of the authors drama.
ReplyDeleteahhh, I still have to read I am number 4 yet, gosh I'm behind!
ReplyDeleteI still have to read the first book. Oh no! ;)
ReplyDeleteWell I only felt "Meh"-ish towards "Four", I am kinda excited to read this book. I wanna see how kick-ass Six is going to be!
