Of the various star systems that make up the Confederation, most lie thousands of light years from First Earth—and out here, no one is free. The agencies that govern the Confederation are as corrupt as the crime bosses who patrol it, and power is held by anyone with enough greed and ruthlessness to claim it. That power is derived from one thing: metatech, the devices that allow people to travel great distances faster than the speed of light.Jeth Seagrave and his crew of teenage mercenaries have survived in this world by stealing unsecured metatech, and they're damn good at it. Jeth doesn’t care about the politics or the law; all he cares about is earning enough money to buy back his parents' ship, Avalon, from his crime boss employer and getting himself and his sister, Lizzie, the heck out of Dodge. But when Jeth finds himself in possession of information that both the crime bosses and the government are willing to kill for, he is going to have to ask himself how far he'll go to get the freedom he's wanted for so long.
Did I ever admit to you lovelies that I'm a closet Trekkie? No? Well, consider me out of the closet. I'm a bit of a space junkie, and I guess you could say that I'm also an adrenaline-fueled sci-fi junkie so, naturally, Avalon is pretty much right up my alley. Plus, we've got a male MC that's written by an awesome female author, which is a feat in and of itself. Top it off with a hot-hot-hot premise and a killer cover, and I'm ready to order this one stat. What do you think, and what are you waiting on this week?
Oh wow, I had no idea you were a Trekkie! Glad you're coming out about it though, haha. ;) I saw the cover reveal for this not too long ago, and immediately added it to my TBR. That cover is GORGEOUS. And it has a male POV! Plus the synopsis totally sounds killer. I have a feeling that this one will be utterly amazing! <3
ReplyDeleteAhhhh yes, I'm a Trekkie haha I blame my father. But seriously...isn't the cover to die for?! I can't wait :)))
Delete"adrenaline-fueled sci-fi" is SOOO up my alley. This cover gives me kind of an alien vibe and I'm so intrigued by the blurb!
ReplyDeleteGahhh me, too. It reminds me of Prometheus haha!
DeleteThis sounds great, and a male POV - sold! I'll be honest, I haven't always read sci-fi because I used to dismiss it without trying it, but the more I read, the more I love! I'll definitely be looking out for this in January!
ReplyDeleteSci-fi is really coming into its own, Hannah! I hope you love this one :)
DeleteThis is a book that I definitely have my eyes on! Just look at that cover! And it's sci-fi, so yeah, I'm hooked!
ReplyDeleteHaha I'm right there with you, Nick! If it's sci-fi, you'd better believe I need to read it
DeleteI'm excited for this one, too. It looks and sounds so bad-ass. Great pick!
ReplyDeleteNatflix&Books' WoW
Thanks, Natalie!
DeleteYesssssssss. SO EXCITED for this Melissa! I was a huge fan of The Nightmare Affair, so I can't wait to see what she does with this book. I love that it's so drastically different from her first book, it's nice to see her imagination really knows no bounds:)
ReplyDeleteI haven't read The Nightmare Affair, but now I'm intrigued about that, too! Yikes!
DeleteAck! I thought I'd added this to my TBR the other day, but it appears that I did not. So, thanks for the reminder of sorts! :) I'm not a super-Trekkie or anything but I watched it with my dad all the time growing up. And I'm still a huge sci-fi fan because of it. I'm sure this book is going to be awesome. Thanks for sharing & stopping by...and for the follows! Been following you for awhile...I double-checked! :D
ReplyDeleteI can't believe I wasn't following YOU before! But yes, sci-fi junkies are the best ;)
DeleteGreat pick Melissa! I love dystopian type stories, that are futuristic, and happen in space! Great WOW pick! Thanks for sharing! Also, thanks for stopping by my blog, and following me :)

Thanks for dropping by and following, Lindy! I think this one is going to rock :)
DeleteI'm pretty much dying to read this book! Awesome concept, sci-fi, cool cover, male MC, and I believe it's going to be written in 3rd person POV (which I usually love) - it sounds like it will be epic.
ReplyDeleteGreat WOW, Melissa! :)
Thanks so much, Lea! I think this cover is just amazing, so, naturally, I'm sold ;)
DeleteReally nice. Thanks for sharing :)

You're quite welcome, Eveline! It sounds great, doesn't it?!
DeleteEEP! This one looks so good! :)
ReplyDeleteThis one caught my attention when I first saw that wicked cover on Pinterest. If you like science fiction you should read Sirantha Jax by Ann Aguirre. It's not YA, but it's an amazing sci-fi series with a great romance.
ReplyDeleteYES this one sounds awesome!

I love the sound of this but after not enjoying this author's debut, mostly because of the writing, I'm not sure I'll like this too much. But it sounds SO GOOD and I love Star Trek too, so maybe I'll check this out after all! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm totally craving sci-fi right now so I am going to add this one to Goodreads straight away! I love all government control type stories too. Thanks so much for highlighting it! :D
ReplyDeleteoooohhhh this one looks good. I will be adding it to my list.
ReplyDeleteMelissa, isn't it awful that only now did I realise you'd returned??!!! But I'm glad you're back - too many bloggers are saying goodbye nowadays :(
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen Avalon before until now and you've got me super excited! I'm not much of a sci-fi fan but I'm always willing to try new things... who can resist a male MC? Wonderful pick this week!
Love all the YA SF coming out-this one is shooting toward the top of my want list (I think I've also seen Firefly comparisons which only adds to my anticipation!)
