Life As We Knew It is Miranda's diary, her link to a semblance of normalcy lost the minute the devastating meteor hit the moon. She rants, she uses sarcasm, and she fights for the life she wants even though everywhere people are giving up hope. She believes life is still worth fighting for even in the midst of worldwide trauma and loss. Above all else though, Miranda wants to prove to herself and to everyone else that life is still worth living, and despite everything that has happened - life goes on.
The brainchild of Susan Beth Pfeffer, Life As We Knew It is a page-turner, and it captivated me from start to finish. I haven't read too many reviews of this one, but the summary intrigued me, and I really wanted to see what it was all about. I couldn't put it down. The story flows and mesmerizes, keeping you hooked to every single word. It's not often that a "what if" story feels realistic and tangible...this, however, accomplishes that seamlessly with a host of characters one can relate to.
I give this book a definite 5 out of 5, and I would recommend it to anyone who loves the combination of sci-fi, drama, and YA novels. I can't wait to start the sequel, The Dead and the Gone!

Wow! The concept of the book sounds really scary, having to experience something completely out of your control. I'll have to check this book out. It sounds really interesting.
ReplyDeleteAwesome review Melissa! I love books written in diary format and this sounds amazing. I'll definitely picking this one up! :D
ReplyDeleteI love this entire series. I was no joke sobbing at the end of The Dead nad the Gone. Can't wait to hear your thoughts on the sequels!
ReplyDeleteI'm really intrigued by this series but this is the first review I've read for Life As We Knew It - not it's definitely going on my wishlist :o) Thanks for the recommendation!
ReplyDeleteYay, I'm so glad you liked this! It's one of my favorite books. I didn't enjoy the sequel nearly as much though. :/ There's a third one coming out soon, so hopefully it's good.

ReplyDeleteWow, this sounds so engrossing! I'm sure I'd really enjoy it. And that cover is so beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThis was a summer reading book last year, but I never got around to reading it. And this will probably sound beyond creepy, but I was thinking about your blog this morning. I was just thinking, "Hey. I miss Melissa."
ReplyDeleteSo I figured I'd come say hey. :]
Fantastic review! Now I'm really excited to get to my copy :)
ReplyDeleteThis really sounds like a good book. I haven't heard of this one, so thanks for bringing it to my attention!!
ReplyDeleteI've only read this book and I loved it! I wasn't aware of a series.
ReplyDeleteUnlike many series all three of Pfeffer's books are fantastic reads. Loved Dead and the Gone's setting and introduction of new characters and the last book brings Miranda and Alex from Dead and the Gone together. Hope you get a chance to read them all. Great review!
ReplyDelete5? Nice! I should read it.
