Top Ten Tuesday: Authors I Need More Of

Tuesday, January 10, 2012

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish. The feature was created because they are particularly fond of lists over at The Broke and the Bookish. They'd love to share their lists with other bookish folks and would LOVE to see your top ten lists!

Each week they will post a new top ten list that one of our bloggers at The Broke and the Bookish will answer. Everyone is welcome to join. All they ask is that you link back to The Broke and the Bookish on your own Top Ten Tuesday post AND add your name to the Linky widget so that everyone can check out other bloggers lists! If you don't have a blog, just post your answers as a comment. Have fun with it! It's a fun way to get to know your fellow bloggers.
Top Ten Authors I Wish Would Write Another Book:

1. Brian Jacques – his imagination made mine run wild. I miss him.

2. Kirsty Eagar – (Thankfully she is!)…and the premise is absolutely fantastic!

3. J.K. Rowling – another Harry Potter would be great, but anything with magic is fine by me, as well.

4. Louisa May Alcott – Her books spoke to me. Little Women was my childhood.

5. Max Turner – I hate vampires, but his vampire book (Night Runner) was one of the first I ever reviewed…and loved.

6. Nancy Werlin – I’d love to see more of her contemporary work. The Rules of Survival was breathtaking.

7. Jenny Han – Though contemps are usually hit or miss with me, her SUMMER series was beautiful. And intense. And perfection.

8. Michelle Hodkin – I know, I know. She’s working on book two, but good GOD, people! I need it right now! RIGHT NOW.

9. Karsten Knight – There were those that didn’t like Wildefire, but I really did. I thought it was original and fun. I want more.

10. Laurie Halse Anderson – Regardless where I stand on contemps, she never fails to impress me. Wintergirls was haunting. Triggering, perhaps, but haunting.

  1. Another one w/ JK! She's EVERYWHERE=D She also made my list. Drop by?

  2. Lol - I agree about Hodkin - :-)

  3. J.K. Rowling is on my list too. Ahh Michelle Hodkin, I would have added her to my list as well but since we know book 2 is coming out...I seriously can't wait! Happy Tuesday

  4. Ooh! Yes! Nancy Werlin! She would have been #11 for me! I loved Extraordinary and Impossible!

    My Top Ten

  5. Aw, Louisa May Alcott was my childhood, too! And another JK Rowling wouldn't be too bad. :)

  6. Yeah Kirsty Eagar! I absolutely need more of her! And of course Michelle Hodkin. I don't think I'm going to make it to Mara 2 release day, I'm going to be dead of waiting-induced stress. Is that possible? I might make it possible:)

  7. I would love something new from JK Rowling. Her writing and ideas never cease to enthrall and amaze me.

As for Jenny Han...I miss the beach house profusely.

  8. Definitely Rowling! I still need to get on Pottermore. I hope it opens up soon for new people. I would love Stephenie Meyer to write a new book.

  9. If we can take on dead ones then of course Jane Austen :D And Tolkien

  10. Ooh, great list. Some authors just strike a chord, don't they? Definitely Nancy Werlin and Karsten Knight--I love the way their minds think.

  11. Great list.

I totally forgot about Louisa May Alcott. Little Women was excellent.

    Laura @ The Traveling Owl

  12. YES! Jenny Han is the bomb. I never use that expression. But she is. And Laurie Halse Anderson? Genius. I'd love to see loads more from both!

  13. Laurie Halse Anderson and J.K. Rowling would have to be on my lists as well! I don't think I've ever heard of Michelle Hodkin? **Googles frantically** Oh, wait. She's the author of that book that I CAN'T WAIT TO GET MY HANDS ON!!!!

  14. OMG! Jenny Han! I want more of her books!

  15. I actually didn't get all that much in to Brian Jacques books and I haven't heard of a few of the authors you mentioned. I agree with Jenny Han, J.K. Rowling, and Laurie Halse Anderson!

  16. JKR! YES! Nuff said.
Aaah, what I'd give for another JKR book *happy place*

  17. I love Louisa May Alcott! Great list!

  18. Great choices, Melissa!! I wish J.K. Rowling would write a new series.

  19. I've totally got to get that Jenny Han series read. It's on my list for my contemps challenge this year. I don't love contemps, but I'm making an effort to *try* to love them, and her summer series comes very highly recommended!

  20. Definitely agree on 3, 7, and 10! Especially JK Rowling, it would be great to be able to go to the bookstore and pick up a new JK Rowling novel :)

Thank you so much for taking the time to comment! I always do my very best to return the favour :)
