Delancy Sullivan has always known there’s more to reality than what people see. Every time someone makes a choice, a new, parallel world branches off from the existing one. Eating breakfast or skipping it, turning left instead of right, sneaking out instead of staying in bed ~ all of these choices create an alternate universe in which an echo self takes the road not travelled and makes the opposite decision. As a Walker, someone who can navigate between these worlds, Del’s job is to keep all of the dimensions in harmony.First of all, I freaking adore that cover. The colours, the repetition...it's just fantastic. I also really love this twist on our ever-changing destinies in Dissonance. What if a parallel world really did branch off every time we made a simple choice? I love this power that Del has, too. It's original, and it's really, really interesting - though it could be complicated, too. Who knows? Either way, I'm really intrigued by this story, and I can't wait to see the way it plays out! What do you think, and what are you waiting on this week?
Normally, Del can hear the dissonant frequency that each world emits as clear as a bell. But when a training session in an off-key world goes horribly wrong, she is forbidden from Walking by the Council. But Del’s not big on following the rules and she secretly starts to investigate these other worlds. Something strange is connecting them and it’s not just her random encounters with echo versions of the guy she likes, Simon Lane.
But Del’s decisions have unimaginable consequences and, as she begins to fall for the Echo Simons in each world, she draws closer to a truth that the Council of Walkers is trying to hide ~ a secret that threatens the fate of the entire multiverse.
I adore that cover too, but I have to say that I'm not at all a fan of parallel universe books. I've read maybe 3 of them, but none of them worked for me for some reason. I do like the idea of a parallel world branching off whenever you have a choice to make. That's quite original and interesting.
ReplyDeleteI think I'm going to wait for the reviews to come in before deciding to give this one a shot.
But that cover though! I'm in love with the colors!
I think it's going to be a challenge, for sure, but I'm interested to see if it works! You never know! ;)
DeleteThis is new to me! Hope you love it once you read it!

I'm glad I could put a new book on your radar, Jessica!
DeleteThis cover is seriously to die for. *drools* and I'm really into parallel universe books right now, so this sounds right up my alley. But why oh why is the release date so far away? :( I'm hoping we can get an ARC or something because I don't think I can wait that long. Lovely pick, Melissa!
ReplyDeleteIsn't it?! I can't stand how pretty it is! I'm hoping it'll appear on Netgalley so all of us can be crazy grabby all over it ;)

My WW!
It certainly is eye-catching!
DeleteYup, I love that cover too. I don't think I'll ever get tired of the "girl in a pretty dress" cover trope. Plus, the colors on this just jump out at you. Anyway, I love the concept of this one - it seems more novels are exploring different dimensions, these days - so I'll be checking it out for sure. Great pick, Melissa!(:
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you agree, Keertana! I swear, there's something about the pretty dresses that I'll never get past. I'm excited to see what this book has to offer us :)

ReplyDeleteThere really is something about parallel worlds, isn't there!?
DeleteThe cover reminds me of Goddess by Josephine Angelini's cover. It's a beauty. Adding to the TBR!

OOH. I'm usually not a big fan of parallel world books. But I like that this chick navigates them, and I LOVE the idea of her hearing the dissonance between them. Awesome pick.

ReplyDeleteOooh...this sounds fascinating. A cool treatment on time. And what a cover.
ReplyDeleteI was staring at your post's title for a while before clicking through from feedly, trying to remember what this book was. Then I remembered it's the book with that gorgeous dress...I love it! I am excited to give this book a read as well.
