Two years ago, Callie was found in an abandoned apartment, scrawling words on the wall: "I KILLED HIM. His blood is on my hands. His heart is in my soul. I KILLED HIM." But she remembers nothing of that night or of the three previous days. All she knows is that her father, the reverend at the Church of the Holy Promise, is missing, as is Hannah, a young girl from the parish.
Their disappearances have to be connected and Callie knows that her father was not a righteous man. But the more she remembers, the closer she comes to the horrifying truth. And when a good looking guy in school helps her to remember what she's buried for so long, she might wish she never dug up the past.
What is it about me and scary books? You guys must think I'm a hero with nerves of steel. I'm really not. I quiver in fear at scary movies, and these books haunt my dreams, but I just. can't. stop. It's like an addiction, or a disease. But I digress. The thing about Oblivion that completely captivates me is the fact that it seems to have all the best parts of a thrilling horror story built-in, but it might just have one hell of a mystery, too. How awesome would that be?! Plus, the cover blends all of my new favourites -- words scrawled across, a haphazard title and a powerful close-up. Sold. What do you think, and what are you waiting on this week?
Even though I'm not really that into scary books, I like the premise of this one. And the cover's really pretty too (loving the eyes, really love the eyes). Your post makes me want to add this book on my TBR pile :D
ReplyDeleteI love creepy YA books, some have scared me so much I got nightmares lol. Thanks, I've added this to the TBR!

Trust me, I am the world's biggest wimp. I don't think I'll even bother with this book...
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing, hon! <33
Woah! Yeah, this definitely sounds scary. A bit too scary, maybe, for me. Even the cover is chilling! I'm curious to see what you think of it, though, so intriguing pick, Melissa!
ReplyDeleteHmmm, this definitely sounds pretty interesting :) Great pick and thanks for putting it on my radar :)

My WW!
You mean you don't have nerves of steel? I was depending on that belief so I could hid behind you when the apocalypse comes. Darn. Still, I think I'll hide behind you and wait until YOU read this story before I do...
ReplyDeleteOh nice! Just saw this one a few blogs back! Sounds intense, but not sure it's my kind of read.
ReplyDeleteHere's my WoW
Have a GREAT day!
Old Follower :)
This sounds like a fabulous read, Melissa! I love scary books too and this one especially sounds scary and terrifying!
ReplyDeleteGreat pick!

ReplyDeleteHappy Wednesday!

Ooooo this sounds creepy! The last line of the premise made me giggle though - almost like they forgot to mention that there's a good looking guy in the story and needed to make sure they tucked that in there so we YA lovers would read it:) I'm with you on the cover, I love the handwritten scrawl - beautiful and disturbing all at the same time.
ReplyDeleteOoh, this sounds deliciously scary!
ReplyDeleteMay 2014? Goodness, I'll be 30 by then!
ReplyDeleteIt was all going well with the description (great, actually), until the good looking guy in school. Seriously, does he have to be good looking to help her figure things out?
Other than that, this sounds SO very creepy and awesome.
Ooooh, nice pick! This one sounds great and it's gone on to the ever growing wishlist! Thanks for sharing :)
ReplyDeleteSounds creeping
ReplyDeleteWow, what a wonderful premise for a horror story! Must get this one.
ReplyDeleteYour genre says mystery and thriller but I was thinking creepy. Seems like I am not alone.
