Top Ten Tuesday: Popular Authors I've Never Read

Tuesday, March 4, 2014

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish. All you have to do is post according to the weekly topic, link up your blog, and add your name to the Linky widget so that everyone can check out other bloggers lists!

1. Gayle Foreman - I seriously missed the boat on this one. If I Stay? Yeah, I never quite got around to that one. Yikes.

2. Veronica Rossi - I've never tried the Under the Never Sky series...though I've lusted after those covers time and again.

3. John Grisham - I never have, and I probably never will, try one of his mysteries. It's not that I don't read adult books...it's that his don't interest me.

4. Tamora Pierce - I've seen her amazing titles. I really have. Yet, for some reason, she never really makes it onto my radar.

5. J.D. Salinger - I failed in this respect. I've never read Catcher in the Rye. For some reason, I just couldn't bring myself to do it.

6. Nalini Singh - Despite the fact that some of my favourite bloggers love her books, I've failed. I'm sorry, Jenny.

7. Rachel Vincent - I've been tempted by her Soul Screamers series quite a few times now. And yet, for some reason, I just haven't picked up her books.

8. Scott Westerfeld - More than once, I've meant to pick up the Uglies series, which is on my shelf. Have I? Nope. I fail.

9. Ransom Riggs - I love creepy books, so someone needs to tell me why I haven't read Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children?

10. Jennifer E. Smith - Now, I can honestly say that this is changing. The Geography of You and Me is coming up on my review queue.

  1. I haven't read any of those authors either but the only one out of this list that made mine is Veronica Rossi. If I could of gone on, John Grisham and Tamora Pierce would be on my list too!

  2. I've only read John Grisham, but that was quite a while ago. I really like his work, but it tends to get pushed to the back of my list/pile when deciding what to read. I don't know why, but I should really read his again soon. Great list!

  3. I'm reading the Geography of You and Me. It's good but I think The Statistical Probability is her best book. You must read If I Stay. You'd love it.

  4. I haven't read If I Stay duology myself and I only read Gayle Forman for the first time last summer and I loved it. I've read both of Jennifer E. Smith's books and I own an ARC of The Geography of You and Me. They're fun, light contemporaries.

I enjoy John Grisham mysteries though it's been years since I read any.

I've also failed to pick up Uglies series. I hope to change that this year. Same with Veronica Rossi.

Here's to hoping we pick up at least one author from our lists to read soon.

  5. Tamera Pierce...another author I haven't read (and completely forgot about)! I wasn't in to fantasy when I was growing up, but now that I like it I need to go back and read her!

Veronica Rossi is SUCH a great storyteller! I'd recommend those, for sure!

  7. Veronica Rossi made my list too! I keep debating about starting her books. Plus I just added two authors I was debating about have some of their books already added to my TBR pile. So I hesitate now to add yet another. Maybe once I knock a few TBR books out!

I like Nalini's Guild Hunter series but don't really read her other one. And OMG Rachel is a fave author of mine! Hope you decide to try her one day! Her Shifters series rocked! And I loved her Soul Screamers series too!

    Here's my Tuesday post

    Have a GREAT day!

  8. See, and so many of those you would LOVE! Tamora Pierce writes fabulous fantasy; loved Westerfeld's Uglies series; and woo-hoo for Nalini Singh! Those are the top three you need to pick up NOW (and not necessarily in that order). :)

  9. Forman is a must-read for me. While I've enjoyed the works of many other authors on your list, her books are just incredible. I have yet to read Grisham and Ransom Riggs myself, but I plan on picking them both up sometime during my life for sure. Wonderful list, Melissa - I hope you get to these ten soon! :)

  10. We share a lot of the same authors- I have never read Riggs, Smith, Vincent or Pierce. I really should make time for Tamora Pierce though. I LOVED If I Stay by Foreman. I hope you find time to read that one…so good! Great list, Melissa!

  11. I love Gayle Forman! Considering how much you like gritty, contemporary YA, I would be shocked to find out if you didn't like If I Stay. Catcher in the Rye is my favorite book from high school. I've read it several times since then but I like it with an adult's lens too. I finally read Pierce a couple of years ago and her Alanna series is terrific if you like fantasy with a strong heroine. I hope you do pickup one these books, Melissa!

  12. Great list! The only one I've read on your list is Jennifer E Smith, I adore her books! Gayle Forman and Veronica Rossi featured on my list as well, hopefully I'll get there one day :)

  13. IF I STAY is great (but I loved JUST ONE DAY more)! I'm with you on J.D. Salinger (I always get such weird looks from my fellow English majors when they find out I haven't read CitR) and Tamora Pierce.

    Great top ten :)
