Books You'll Find on Our Baby's Shelf

Friday, July 18, 2014

As most of you know already, my husband and I are expecting our first little on this coming December! While that's made this little blog take a back seat at times this year because morning sickness sucks and growing a human is hard, I can't help but get excited to start building our baby's library. Isn't that what every good book blogger dreams of? I know this post is a little different than what I normally post here, but as I transition into motherhood later this year, I want to make sure that is a part of this blog - and that my love of books will be passed down in its entirety.

We've already bought a few books, and we have a couple classics from family, but here are the top four that are on little baby Moore's bookshelf. Now we just impatiently await this little peanut's arrival!

Who Flung Dung by Ben Redlich - Would you believe this treasure is from South Africa? My parents recently went back to visit our family and brought this silly story back, and you'd better believe I can't wait to read this to our nugget.

The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle - This is one of the very first books I read as a child, and both the illustrations and the story of transformation were magical to me both then and now. We're thrilled to read this wonderful book to little Moore.

On the Night You Were Born by Nancy Tillman - Something about this book just screams love. This is the type of book that Ryan and I can read to the nugget and remind him/her that they are so very important in our lives.

The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein - I'm not the biggest fan of Mr. Silverstein, but this is one book that's been on my shelf since I was really, really young. Full of morals, love and soulful giving, I hope we have such a sweet, tender child.

What sort of books would you add to this list? I have to say that my nesting is in full swing, and the library for this baby is top on my list of priorities right now!

A Little Life Update

Friday, April 11, 2014

As most of my lovely readers know, I got married in January to my amazing husband, Ryan, who's made my life a million times better every single day. He was, in large part, the reason why I decided to come back to book blogging. His confidence in me is unwavering, and he supports me in all we do. We're enjoying our crazy lives as newlyweds married to the Army and awaiting solid orders for 2015.

You might remember from my cruise recap that we thought I had come down with norovirus or some sort of bacterial infection from the cruise. I was just not feeling well, and though we were settling back into our everyday lives, something just felt off. So, I went to the doctor here on post to see if they could tell me why, exactly, I felt so dang gross. Wellllll…her answer was simple…

Guys, this was not planned, nor was it even on our minds for at least a year. We'd planned to wait until after our PCS next year to consider it, and we'd really wanted to travel more and enjoy our lives as newlyweds. But hey…God had other plans, and I guess He sped up our timetable.

We're crazy excited, crazy terrified and crazy in shock right now, but we're living it one day at a time. So, here's to wicked heartburn, ridiculous flatulence and mood swings like no other…what can I say? Pregnancy is a beautiful thing ;)

Today is the Day

Saturday, January 4, 2014

For those of you that follow me on Twitter, you probably know by now that I am getting married today!
This is the best possible way for me to think of starting 2014,
and I cannot wait to get back from my honeymoon and share all the magic of our day with you lovelies.
However, as you can imagine, I'm taking this time to enjoy a blissful week with my husband (!!!) before then.
I'll be gone from today through Sunday, January 12th,
but a few sweet bloggers have offered up some guest posts in the meantime.

I've also scheduled some reviews and features during my absence,
but as you can imagine, I'll be pretty much MIA from commenting and blog loving for the next week.
I sure can't wait to be back reading all your lovely blogs and comments upon my return!

Until then, much, much love from the new Mr. and Mrs. Moore! xoxo

Sweet Boston

Tuesday, April 16, 2013

I'm not going to jump on the bandwagon, and say "oh, I was here when it happened," or "I know so-and-so who was hurt."

I will say this though...today, I am thankful. I work just outside the city, and I was pissed all yesterday because on a Massachusetts holiday, Patriot's Day, my office was open, and I had to work.

I thought about calling in sick. I wanted to go to the marathon with my friends. I didn't. I stayed at work, and I remained safe.

Today, I can only be grateful and thankful and simply ask that people just continue to pray for the people and city of Boston.

A Bloggin' Coffee Date

Friday, April 12, 2013

Guys, I'm trying something new...mostly because I'm just barely back into blogging. Say that five times fast. Just because. The point is, I'm liking this bad boy up over at Rags to Stitches. Why not? Sue me.

This week has been an interesting one, to say the least. We (my roommates, Patrice & Danielle) saw an apartment we loved last weekend in the town we're hoping to relocate, and we put in our applications. Unfortunately, apparently everybody had the same idea as us. And, let's get real, the owners picked the older couple that applied right before us because they're a lot less of a risk than three young professionals who could up and get married/leave at any time. Regardless, we took the loss in stride and put in our applications for another place today. We're really, really hoping this is it. We're tired of searching. It hurts my brain.

Now, I'm buckling down for a weekend of CrossFit. We have our Spring Kick-Off Competition at CrossFit Free tomorrow, and I'm doing it Rx. For those of you who haven't sipped the kool-aid yet, that basically means that I have to the workouts exactly as written - no scaling the weights. There are three workouts of death pain, and then the top competitors will advance to the fourth. I won't be in the top. I'm just not that good yet. Hallelujah.

And, finally, in a grand total of 7 days (+ 12 or so hours), I get to see my handsome soldier where he's stationed in Arizona. This whole long-distance shebang is less than appealing BUT it's not forever.

Worry

Thursday, April 11, 2013

For any of you out there that know me; I'm a worrier. I always have been, and I always will be. However, as of late, I've been making a conscious effort to worry less about the future (because, let's be honest, it plagues me) and simply enjoy the present. I'm only promised today, so why not enjoy what time I do have, right? It's so much easier said than done.

Friends, what do you do to worry/stress less? If anything, that is...
