Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Jill from Breaking the Spine, and specifically spotlights upcoming novels we can't wait to read. As always, there are some amazing upcoming books, but this week I'm particularly excited for...
Title: Tris & Izzie
Author: Mette Ivie Harrison
Publisher: EgmontUSA
Published: October 11, 2011
Genre: YA, Contemporary
Pages: 272
A modern retelling of the German legend "Tristan and Isolde", "Tris and Izzy", is about a young witch named Izzie who is dating Mark King, the captain of the basketball team and thinks her life is going swimmingly well.
That is, until-- she makes a love potion for her best friend Brangane and then ends up taking it herself accidentally, and falling in love with Tristan, the new guy at school.
I'm not going to lie...that's a pretty darn vague description. That said, I'm a sucker for classic romances (especially doomed ones - colour me a sadist) like Tristan & Isolde. Plus, I like modern spins on classic tales, and I especially like it when they have incredible covers. So, basically, Tris & Izzie has all the makings of what I hope for in a great book...I certainly hope it lives up when it finally comes out! What do you think, and what are you waiting on this week?
I saw Tris & Izzie on Goodreads. I love the story of Tristan & Isolde. It will be interesting to see the author's take on it.

ReplyDeleteI can't wait for this one either, the legend of Tristan and Isolde is one of my favorited. I treasure it above all other tragic love stories and it's my personal opionion that it kicks Romeo and Juliets a**. I'm really exited to see how it'll translate into a modern day story for young adults. :)]
