Saturday Scribbles

Saturday, January 2, 2010

I was thinking a lot about what to post today because I'm kind of in between my review for Impossible by Nancy Werlin, as well as my wrap-up about today's launch party for The Dark Divine by Bree Despain. I finally decided to start my very first meme...I know, I'm probably jumping the gun...but I decided to give it a go anyway. I figured I'd call it Saturday Scribbles.

A lot of my favourite book blogs that I've come across are run by people who love to write, as well as read. If you haven't checked out the work of Raven from Love Letters to Forever, I highly recommend you do so soon! Anyhoo, the point us, there is a ton of information out there for book bloggers and aspiring writers, but how many places actually help you find your beta readers, or let you pick other people's brains, or just let the ideas flow? I want this to be a sort of creative outlet. Let people know what you're working on. Are you stuck? Do you need a fresh perspective? I think this could be a lot of fun.

Today, I figured I'd get started slowly and see if people like this. So, I'm going to post some of my greatest resources thus far in my writing journey to get this started. Litopia.

This online community allows you to interact with agents, publishers, and writers at all levels of publication. I joined on a whim, and it's incredible. The advice is invaluable, and you actually earn a chance to pitch your piece to Peter Cox of Redhammer, a well-known literary agency. I highly recommend you join, and if you do, keep a lookout for me!

I've also decided to participate it the Teen Author Challenge hosted at the You 2.0 Blog.

And no, you do not have to be a teen to enter this challenge. Running through July 13, 2010, the TAC will post a new challenge every week, coaxing you to let those creative juices run. From start to the the dreaded synopsis/query, this challenge is designed to help all aspiring writers of the YA and Middle Grade genre.

So, what about all of you lovely bloggies? What are some of the writing resources you use? Would you recommend them to others?
