Saturday Scribbles #2 & Awards!

Saturday, January 9, 2010

Alright, first things first...awards!!! Forgive the forever-long post, but I want to give these awards before anything else.

These are the rules of the happy list:
Here are the rules it comes with:
List 10 things that make you happy.
Try and do at least one of them today.
Tag 10 bloggers that brighten your day.
Link back to the person that tagged you.

I was given this award by the very lovely Miss Cindy from Simple Life and Reading. Thank you, Cindy!

Ok, so here's my happy list...

1) Swimming, 2) My cats, 3) Excessive amounts of coffee, 4) Rainy days, 5) Sleeping late, 6) Bowls of ice cream, 7) Brightly coloured shoes, 8) Books that are parts of a series, 9) Bowling, and 10) Making snow angels.

And 10 blogs I'd like to share this with are...
1. Robby at Once Upon a Book Blog
2. Lucy at Delightful Reviews
3. Brodi Ashton at Brodi Ashton
4. Stormi at Books, Movies, Reviews! Oh My!
5. Alexa at Hooked on YA Books
6. Cait at All Things Print
7. Tina at Tina's Book Reviews
8. The Lateiner Gang at The Lateiner Gang Book Review Spot
9. Roni at Fiction Groupie
10. Becky at The Bookette

And one more award to give away...ready? Here goes.

The Splash Award is given to alluring, amusing, bewitching, impressive, and inspiring blogs. The amazing masterminds behind Smart Girls Read, gave me this award, so thank you! Thank you so much!

Here are the rules: Put the logo on your blog/post. Nominate & link up to 9 blogs that you pick for this award. Let them know that they have been splashed. Remember to link the person that nominated and awarded you. So, I'm giving this award to three of my favourite blogs...

The three blogs I nominate are:
1. Justine & Steff at A Bookful of Thoughts
2. Julie at Bloggers Heart Books
3. Amna at Amna Writes

Congratulations and a big thank you to everyone! You all are absolutely wonderful. But really now, onto the Saturday Scribbles. For those of you who aren't entirely sure what this is, Saturday Scribbles is a place for book bloggers/writers/and everything in between to come for advice and an open forum on the love of writing.

This week, I discovered the lovely Roni at Fiction Groupie and saw that she's participating in a great challenge that I wanted to share with you. It's called the 1000 Words A Day Challenge. Now, for those of you like me, this may seem a bit crazy simply because of jobs etc., but there are different levels. You can also participate in the 500 Words A Day Challenge, or even 250 Words a Day. I've decided to be reasonable.

That looks reasonable, right? I think it might just be something I can do...and stick to. But now, let me ask a question that was posed this week. What do you do to conquer writer's block? Do you have a special method? For me, I simply have to shelf a WIP for a bit and write something else. It makes me appreciate the project so much more.
