As we all know, the book market (and the YA market in particular) is fast-becoming dominated by killer covers that rival the content of the books. I'm a self-professed cover slut, and I'm completely okay with that, but I think it's time we pay a little tribute to the fantastic covers on the market today. So, welcome to a brand new Friday feature at i swim for oceans!
Each week, I will feature a book with a cover that just blew my mind with its amazingness, and I invite you to join in. Simply post the cover, the author/publisher, the release date, why you love it and any other pertinent details you'd love to share with other cover-lovers out there. Want to join in? Simply link up and join the fun!
Title: Liesl & Po
Author: Lauren Oliver (Twitter...Facebook)
Publisher: HarperCollins
Publish Date: October 4, 2011
Fun Fact: Apparently the ARCs came out in adorable cutout theatre boxes - as magical as the cover itself! I got my copy at BEA, so I didn't get one, but I believe it. I saw a hint of it on Lauren's blog.
Why I Have Cover Love: It's enchanting, obviously. Remember those Grimm's fairy tales with the classic, ornate covers? This is like a throwback to that, and I'm excited to have something more artsy on my shelves.
What do you think? Are you dying of cover love over a certain book? Link up and share the love with the rest of us!
Really like this cover. What is the book about. Heard about this one on a few blogs but not what its about.
ReplyDeleteSo charming, so whimsical. I love it!
ReplyDeleteYou're right, it does remind me of an old Grimm fairy tale cover! It's very beautiful.
ReplyDeleteHow do i do this Melissa?
ReplyDeleteYou're right - the cover is magical! So like a fairy tale.

Hi,
ReplyDeleteI'm a new follower from Parajunkee's Follow Friday. At the risk of a lynch mob I gotta say I'm not a fan of that cover, it just doesn't grab me.

I think that cover would have scared me a little when I was younger. It's kind of creepy, but also beautiful.
ReplyDeleteSuper excited I got this book! I just love the cover!
ReplyDeleteI really love the cover for Lisel & Po too it's kind of classic and simple. I love how most of it is a beautiful design and then right in the middle is a little glipmse of the story. ^-^

I agree that this cover is enchanting! I saw an ARC of it the other day and just had to run my fingers over it. I can't wait to see the final copy!
ReplyDeleteYes, this is a beautiful enchanting cover. Nice change of pace from the bloody and the eerie... :)
ReplyDeleteYeah, I really like the "ye olde tome" type of cover that this book has got going on. The image isn't quite big enough for me to discern what's going on in the little oval, but still! Enchanting is a perfect descriptor for this cover. :)
ReplyDeleteI remember requesting this book with you at BEA. It was really a moment of WIN for us I think ;-) Love the cover though, and how cute that the ARCs came in little boxes! Love when the marketing department goes above and beyond and makes things really interesting.
ReplyDeleteThis does look magical. I like the Grimm feel.
ReplyDeleteI love how fairy tale classic the cover is - I adore it! :D
ReplyDeleteI with you, I love this cover. Makes me want to touch it. :)
ReplyDeleteAwe. I bet the theatre boxes were cute.
ReplyDeleteI love this cover :). It just oozes magic and fairy tales and screams "read me!" :P.
ReplyDeleteI do like that cover! It reminds me a little of Pandora opening the box.
ReplyDeleteI have an ARC, and am looking forward to reading it.
So beautiful. The kind you pull of your shelf when someone visits just to share it with someone.
ReplyDeleteI agree that this is a beautiful, magical cover. It looks like the circular design in the middle, surrounding the inner image, is embossed. Makes me want to physically touch the cover.
ReplyDeleteThis is such a classic fairy tale look and I just love it. I know it's not really embossed but the detailing makes me want to run my fingers over the cover.

Very, very cute. Yep, I like this one.
ReplyDeleteThat is a beautiful cover. It looks like a wood carving. Or looking through a mirror. It's very fairy tale like. Sorry I didn't get to this meme.

I completely forgot to post my cover love. Sorry busy weekend. I love this cover too and all it's little details.
ReplyDeleteWHAT?!? Lauren has another book out (errr... or coming out) besides Delirium (and its sequel)? I feel like a cruddy fan! ;)
ReplyDeleteI will have to check this one out!
