Waiting on Wednesday 2/9

Wednesday, February 9, 2011

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Jill from Breaking the Spine, and specifically spotlights upcoming novels we can't wait to read. As always, there are some amazing upcoming books, but this week I'm particularly excited for...

Title: The Carrier of the Mark
Author: Leigh Fallon
Publisher: HarperTeen
Published: Fall 2011
Genre: YA, Paranormal Romance
Pages: Unknown

A move to Ireland is about to introduce Megan to her destiny, her real destiny, can she embrace it and will she survive it?

A tragedy in Megan’s past set her on a predetermined course. A chain of events has been set in motion that brings Megan to Kinsale, a small town in the south of Ireland where her destiny awaits her. Her life starts to fall into place as she makes new friends and settles into her new school. However, the reclusive and distant Adam DeRĂs calls to her body and soul.

She finds herself increasingly drawn to Adam and his strange family. Adam knows a secret from her past and he and his family hold the key to her future. A future that binds her to Adam and his world, a world of power, mystery and ancient orders. A world that unbeknownst to her, she very much belongs in.
Ok, it's no secret that I'm a cover-slut, but seriously? Are covers getting better and better, or is just me? I don't need art on my walls anymore! I can just prop up all my books all nice and pretty! Cover lust aside, The Carrier of the Mark starts with a somewhat normal YA premise, but then cranks it up a notch with the introduction of "power, mystery and ancient orders." It's with that line (ok, and the romance part) and the cover that I'm one hundred percent completely sold. I must read this book. Seriously. Preferably soon? Thanks. What do you think, and what are you waiting on this week?

  1. I agree...covers do seem to be getting better and better. I feel like all the covers on books I read growing up were just so bad. Maybe it's because it was too expensive to do the nice quality photography they do now. I remember everything being illustrations.

  14. I agree about the covers in the YA genre...not quite as sure about the adult books. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that publishers are targeting a generation that has grown up being bombarded by visual images, videos, Youtube feeds..so they feel they have to amp up the graphics on the books?

Hope you enjoy this one Melissa.
